From Piggy Banks to Sponsorships...

1. Piggy Banks: University Student Budgeting

With the transition from school to university on the horizon, it’s time to tackle one of the less thrilling aspects of student life: finances. Whether your child is heading off to university or planning a gap year, managing money wisely is crucial. Think of it as the physics of real life—balancing forces, potential energy (savings), and kinetic energy (spending)!

We've found an excellent website listing over 50 ways for students to save - check this out... https://www.moneysavingexpert.com/students/student-guide/

A little investigation, I made this week (October 2024), indicates that a great many universities will sponsor you to do Engineering, Maths or Physics-based degrees.

I would not suggest that you use this information to decide which university to apply for, however, once you have made your decision about universities, it would probably be a good idea to do some investigations to find out if that university might fund, at least part of, your undergraduate study.

Opportunities are available in particular for very able students, women and ethnic minority groups, as well as supporting students who have a limited or no support system/funds at home.

The following links are a very incomplete list of places to go to find out more about bursaries scholarships and sponsorships for particularly Engineering, Maths and Physics, but for all subjects in some cases.
